But its a actually a bit more complicated! We do not "mention" rain in the Amidah until Shmini Atzeret. but we don't sctually ASK for rain until early December " to allow the pilgrims who went up to Jerusalem to get back home to their Diaspora homes. Which meant back to Mesopotamia. You'd have thought that wil modern travel on the one hand and the need for rain on nthe mother, they'd have brought it forward!!!!
